How would I describe myself in 3 words: Hard working, great smile and family orientated.
Proudest moment: Obviously having my two beautiful children and watching them grow into amazing young adults. It takes my breath away to think that I have had a hand in delivering to the world two wonderful human beings. My kids have had to be resilient. Jackson was born very ill and had 11 operations in the first 9 months of his life. Kaitlyn then developed a medical condition at the age of 16. I am so very proud of their resilience and achievements.
Describe your career: I finished year 12 on the Friday and started working in a legal firm the following Monday (no schoolies for me!!). I did not expect to get accepted into UNI but to my surprise I was accepted into Teachers College. I decided to defer and keep working in a legal firm. I gained valuable knowledge from great employers in my first few years straight from school. I then moved around Australia for 14 years, living in Sydney, Melbourne, Townsville, Darwin and remotely in Groote Eylandt. I loved every minute of it, but I was very happy in 2003 to return to my home town of Brisbane and plant some roots.
Passions: I am passionate about diet and exercise. I firmly believe that in order to work in a highly stressful job, I need to exercise. I exercise every day of my life, no exception. I am the crazy one who goes to the gym on Christmas day or who is at the gym at 4.00 am. I love running and I have participated in several half marathons and endurance events. Last year I hiked 100 km with Executive Excellence from the Gap to Woodford, carrying a brick with the name of a relative who died in World War 1. I can honestly say that it was the ultimate test of my mental and physical capabilities.
Favourite holiday destination: I love the tropics. In particular, relaxing by the water. If I had to pick two spots to relax at, they would be Airlie Beach and Noosaville. I have not yet travelled overseas but I hope to do so next year.
